Large Oil Tank Fire in Philadelphia Collapses Highway Deck

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on the morning of the 11th, a large oil tanker passing under the highway caught fire and the top plate of the highway collapsed in the aftermath, the American media reported.

According to media reports such as the Associated Press and NBC, a fire broke out in a large tanker passing under the I-95 Interstate in northern Philadelphia at 6:22 am on the same day, and the flames soared to the top of the highway and emitted huge black smoke.

Traffic in the area was completely restricted, causing major congestion.

“The northbound lane on I-95 has collapsed, and the southbound lane is also at risk,” said Philadelphia Fire Department Chief Derek Bowmer at a news conference.

Authorities have launched an investigation to see how the accident occurred.
